STUDENTS RUN PHILLY STYLE HONORS COMCAST SPORTSNET ANCHOR MARSHALL HARRIS WITH EXTRA MILE AWARD

Marshall Harris runs for Students Run Philly StylePHILADELPHIA, PA, November 1, 2011 – Students Run Philly Style, a Philadelphia program that uses marathon training to help young people succeed in life, is pleased to announce that Comcast SportsNet reporter and anchor Marshall Harris is the recipient of its inaugural Extra Mile Award. The award recognizes someone who has served as a tireless advocate for youth in the greater Philadelphia area.

"We could not have selected a better recipient for this year’s Extra Mile award," said Students Run Philly Style Director Heather McDanel. "At Students Run we are guided by three core values—courage, effort and respect—and those are values that Marshall demonstrates every day. He is a tremendous role model for our students and a great example of what it means to be a leader in your work and in your community."

Mr. Harris has touched the lives of hundreds of young men and women across the city by helping to connect them with strong adult mentors who teach them how to set, work toward, and achieve goals they never thought possible—including the completion of a marathon. He has volunteered his time and talents to Students Run Philly Style by hosting fundraising events, serving as a race day volunteer, and advocating for Students Run Philly Style with his personal and professional colleagues.

"It is an honor to be recognized with this award from Students Run," said Mr. Harris. "However, it is really the staff at Students Run and, more importantly, the students, who have gone the extra mile. The impact this organization has made on the community is remarkable, and it is truly changing the lives of the youth it serves. These students push themselves further than they ever imagined possible, and their hard work, dedication and support for one another are an inspiration. I thank Students Run for this recognition and for welcome me as part of their team."

An awards ceremony was be held on November 3, 2011 at The Residences at Dockside from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
