Ieshia Nelson, Associate Director
Ieshia joined Students Run Philly Style’s staff in May 2016. She is a former volunteer Running Leader, who mentored with the organization for over five years. She has completed two full and three half marathons with her former western region team. Ieshia was not a runner before her involvement with Students Run but has since completed those distances in Ottawa, ON Canada, Disney World & Land and the US Virgin Islands. Her favorite races are 10 milers.
As the Associate Director of Mentoring and Training, Ieshia supports all of SRPS’ teams and leads its mentor training and youth leadership development efforts throughout the year. She serves as the primary point person for organizing programmatic special events and volunteer opportunities, as well as recruitment, mentoring support, and training.
Ieshia is an alumna of Temple University, having earned two degrees: a BA in Urban Studies (CLA) and M.Ed in Organizational Development from The College of Education.
She has worked in college access and (non-profit) youth development for the past nine years in Philadelphia and her hometown of Washington, DC. She has a passion for social justice and supporting young people to critically think about the communities they are a part of while challenging them to contribute as we collectively move towards improvement. She is an adjunct faculty member at Temple, teaching courses on Youth Culture & Adolescent Development. Ieshia is an avid traveler.

The Kick-Off – I love seeing the excitement in the faces of first time students and leaders as well as the pride that comes from veteran mentors and students as they welcome them.
