Mariana Folco, Associate Director of Youth Diversion
Mariana joined the staff of Students Run Philly Style in December 2019 after being involved with the team through her work at Up2Us Sports, a national sports-based youth development organization. In her previous role, she developed and delivered interactive trauma-informed trainings for coaches, teachers, mentors, and other sports-based youth development professionals.
Mariana is a licensed social worker and native Spanish-speaker from Argentina who brings years of experience as a bilingual domestic violence counselor and legal service coordinator with unaccompanied immigrant youth involved in the court system. Mariana has also been a rowing coach for over 10 years at the high school, collegiate, and masters levels for programs around the city and country.
As Associate Director of Youth Diversion, Mariana will collaborate with the SRPS Team, volunteer mentors, and youth advocates to implement a new diversion initiative, in which the SRPS program will be an alternative to bringing youth into the juvenile justice system.
Mariana holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University. Mariana is an avid runner and has completed 12 marathons. When not running, she can be found rowing on the Schuylkill river or trying to find the best tacos in the city.
